TCI Industries Limited was founded by Late Shri Prabhu Dayal Agarwal, a well-known philanthropist.

The Company was originally incorporated in the year 1965 as Transport Corporation of India Private Limited. Subsequently, the Company changed its name to Transport Corporation of India Limited in the year 1974. The Company was listed on Bombay Stock Exchange in the year 1975.
